Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how EquiEdge ("EquiEdge," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the EquiEdge mobile application (the "App") and the website at equiedge.xyz (the "Site"). EquiEdge is an AI-powered horse racing analysis tool for Australian thoroughbred meetings.

1. Information We Collect

EquiEdge is designed to work without personal accounts. The data we handle is limited to:

• Subscription transaction data. When you subscribe to Basic or Pro, Apple processes the transaction through StoreKit. We receive a transaction identifier and subscription status from Apple so we can unlock paid features in the App. We do not see or store your payment card details, your Apple ID email, or your billing address.
• Anonymised, aggregated usage analytics. The App records non-identifying product metrics — for example, the number of analyses run, which features are used, and crash reports — so we can improve reliability and prioritise features. This data cannot be linked back to you.
• On-device preferences. Your trial-usage counter, weekly track-day count, and App settings are stored in local device storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device.
• Waitlist email address. If you submit your email through the waitlist form on the Site, we store that email for the sole purpose of notifying you when the App launches. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Basic Site logs. Our hosting provider retains standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamp) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are automatically purged on a short rolling window.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To be explicit, we do not collect any of the following:

• Your name, date of birth, or home address.
• Your location (GPS or otherwise).
• Contacts, photos, calendar, or any other device data outside the App itself.
• Your browsing history on other apps or websites.
• Advertising identifiers (we don't use the IDFA).
• Betting account credentials, TAB logins, or any bookmaker data.

3. Third-Party Services

EquiEdge uses a small number of third-party services to deliver the product:

• xAI (Grok API). Race analysis requests are sent to xAI's servers. The content of these requests is limited to publicly available race data (track names, runner fields, form data, race conditions). No personal information about you is included. xAI's handling of this data is governed by xAI's Privacy Policy.
• Apple StoreKit. Apple handles all subscription transactions, payment processing, and refunds. Their handling of your payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Site hosting and email delivery. The Site and waitlist form are hosted by standard infrastructure providers. Waitlist emails, when we send them, are delivered through a transactional email service.

We only share information with these services to the extent necessary to operate the App and Site. We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data.

4. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we hold to:

• Verify your subscription status and unlock paid features in the App.
• Improve the App by understanding aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
• Investigate bugs and reliability issues.
• Notify waitlist members when the App launches.
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

To the extent Australian privacy laws (the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles) or the EU GDPR apply to our processing, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance — to deliver the App and fulfil your subscription.
• Legitimate interests — to improve the App through anonymised analytics, and to protect against abuse.
• Consent — for waitlist emails, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We may disclose information only in the following narrow circumstances:

• To service providers acting on our behalf (e.g. xAI, Apple, our hosting provider) solely to operate the App.
• If required to do so by law, court order, or a valid request from a government authority.
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of EquiEdge, our users, or the public.
• In connection with a corporate transaction (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will notify users beforehand if personal data is transferred.

7. International Data Transfers

Because xAI's servers are located in the United States and other jurisdictions, race-analysis requests are transferred outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure those transfers are subject to appropriate contractual and security safeguards.

8. Data Retention

We keep data only for as long as it's needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Anonymised analytics are kept indefinitely because they cannot be linked back to you. Subscription records are retained for the period required by Apple and Australian tax law. Waitlist emails are deleted once you unsubscribe or a reasonable period after launch.

9. Children's Privacy

EquiEdge is rated 17+ on the App Store and is not intended for use by anyone under 18. The App contains gambling-related content and must not be used by minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at equiedgeai@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

10. Your Rights

Under Australian privacy law (and, where applicable, the EU GDPR), you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations.
• Withdraw consent for waitlist emails at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link).
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or your local supervisory authority.

Because we do not operate user accounts, in most cases the quickest way to exercise these rights is to email us at equiedgeai@gmail.com.

11. Cookies and Site Tracking

The Site does not use third-party advertising cookies and does not run cross-site trackers. We may use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to make the waitlist form work and to remember session state. No cookies are used for advertising profiling.

12. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and the relevant authorities in accordance with our obligations under Australian law.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be signposted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and if you are a waitlist subscriber we may email you about significant changes before they take effect.
